Volunteering for Bundanoon DanceFest

Bundanoon DanceFest is possible because of the generosity of the teachers and musicians that make their talents available.

Teachers, with a track record in a particular dance form, are invited to provide 90-minute workshops. But others may wish to put themselves forward for consideration; you can do that HERE. Teachers are asked to liaise with a suitable musician to be lead musician or to seek advice on the selection.

Lead Musicians take responsibility for preparing music sets that fit the dances workshopped. We ask that this be done in advance to permit distribution via the Bush Traditions web site. This allows other musicians to download the music in advance of the weekend and then join in with the lead musician in their chosen workshops. The Monday and evening dances provide the opportunity for the practised and workshopped musicians to play for their teacher(s).

NB: Teachers and lead musicians participate in a voluntary capacity. Both are offered a share of any surplus generated by the DanceFest. The amount varies from year to year but it normally amounts to petrol money.

Musicians come along in a voluntary capacity, (well a modest $30 ticket for costs) and can download the music and print it and practise it in advance of the weekend and then join in with the lead musician in their chosen workshops. The evening functions and the Monday dance provide the opportunity for the practised and workshopped musicians to play for their teacher(s).

For insurance considerations, teachers, lead musicians and musicians are asked to take out associate membership at a cost of $10 pa. This can be organised at registration or online here.

Video Recording is an important facet of documenting our workshops and dances for posterity and for promotion. If you have the appropriate skills and equipment please contact a committee member to discuss the possibilities.

General Helpers are always needed on the weekend for minor tasks such as sweeping a floor ready for a dance, monitoring the tea/ coffee table, packing up PA, etc

If you would like to put yourself forward or suggest someone you feel ought to be included then please contact us.
